Only have 5 hours or less to spend at Epcot? Here are some tips and information I gave two coworkers recently who wanted to enjoy the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (Epcot):
If you're only visiting Walt Disney World for one day the price for adult admission is: $87.33 (unfortunately there are no half day tickets)
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth (fireworks show) is a must see. I've found that the best viewing for this show is anywhere near the gate closest to the Seven Seas Lagoon or near the Japan Pavilion. People generally begin staking out their seats at least 45 mins prior to the start of the show.
Here's a list of rides and attractions in Future World that one should try to do with limited time at Epcot:
- Soarin’ (try to do this as soon as you get in the park.) It’s located in “The Land Pavilion” which is to the right when you come in the park. If the wait is long try to get a Fastpass and then head to another ride.
- Spaceship Earth (often referred to as the giant golf ball, this is classic Epcot)
- Test Track (fun, exhilarating, and such a thrill as you become a crash dummy on this ride)
- Mission: Space (travel 8,000 miles into space as you turn into an astronaut headed to Mars. Each person will have a duty while on board. If this regular attractions seems too intense for you there is a less intensive flight option. If you’re not sure which one it is a Cast Member can help you.
- Captain EO (I can’t really speak to this as it was just reintroduced to Disney after my last trip, but if you’ve experienced it at Disneyland I believe it’s similar, if not the same)
Things to do at World Showcase:
- Mexico Pavilion: Yay for the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros (this ride is a personal favorite of mine as this ride goes through the San Angel Inn restaurant which has awesome Mexican food)
- Norway Pavilion: Must ride Maelstrom
- China Pavilion: There is a presentation(video) on China, interesting, but if you want to maximize your time I’d skip it.
- Germany Pavilion: Great beer and brats here. Nuff said!
- Italy Pavilion: no ride, great scenery though
- America Pavilion: there is a great funnel cake stand not far from here. ( American Gardens theatre is here where the “Flower Power” concerts will be held nightly during the International Flower & Garden Festival)
- Japan Pavilion: always has a great shows right outside the pavilion (check park map for exact times)
- Morocco Pavilion: great place to get a henna tattoo (I did last year and it was so much fun) There are also great shows here as well.
- France Pavilion: great food, there is a film here on France (once again, I would advise skipping it to maximize your time)
- United Kingdom Pavilion: Rose & Crown restaurant is a great place to eat and watch Illuminations
- Canada Pavilion: great film on Canada
Hopefully these little tips and pointers will help you maximize your time at Epcot. This post is intented for adult visitors, cause as I always say "Disney is not just for kids."
